I told this story to a couple of different clients today, so it's on my mind.
I had one bride who called to cancel her cake, saying that she had decided to elope instead of having a formal wedding. It turns out that whenever she had a planning appointment, her mother would follow along behind her the next day and change all the details of everything that she had ordered. She had changed the flowers, the catering menu and who knows what else, but when she went to the custom dressmaker to change the dress design, the dressmaker called the bride to clarify.
She said that she was eloping, and that her mother wasn't invited. Oops.
So next time you feel like your mom is interfering in the wedding plans too much, just think of that bride, and it might make you feel a little better about it.
